FESPA DIGITAL PRINT AWARDS 2008 JURY REVIEWS IN EXCESS OF 300 ENTRIES The independent jury of the FESPA Digital Print Awards 2008, supported by HP, met in London at the end of February to review more than 300 entries from printers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Entries were submitted in eight application categories: Vehicle; Outdoor; Indoor; Packaging; Textile; Décor; Manufactured Goods and Fine Art. The jury was chaired by FESPA ‘founding father’ and acclaimed printer Michel Caza, supported by a team of eight expert jurors (see photo caption). Speaking on behalf of the jury, publisher of the central and eastern European Print & Publishing titles Michael Seidl comments: “The FESPA Digital Print Awards are proof that digital print lives! The entries showed clearly how multi-faceted and broad the applications spectrum has become, and how the use of digital output technology has joined the mainstream. From shop design to décor applications, outdoor to textile - digital print blends design and delivery, and sets no limits on creativity.” The eight Category Winners and the overall Platinum Winner will be made public at FESPA Digital 2008 in Geneva (1-3 April 2008), and images of the winning entries will be displayed on a dedicated stand adjacent to the stand of HP. FESPA CEO Nigel Steffens adds: “In its second year, the FESPA Digital Print Awards has attracted three times the entries compared with the 2007 awards. The calibre of the entries to this year’s Awards demonstrates very clearly the balance of technological maturity and creative innovation which is driving growth this sector. FESPA and HP, who generously support the Awards, are delighted with this overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from printers throughout the region, and we look forward to announcing the winners in Geneva in a few weeks time.”
